The band competed at the North West Regional Championships 2024 in the first section, performing Eric Ball's High Peak. A stern musical test for brass band. Our preparations went well and the standard of our performance in the run up to the contest were impressive and a testament to the effort of Mike Jones and all of the members of the band.
We arrived at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool on Sunday morning of 25th February and after a band breakfast it was time to register as we had drawn band number 4. Meaning we would be on stage just before lunch time.
Unfortunately we weren't able attain the standard that we had achieved consistently in the band room this time around. After a tentative start the performance settled and ended well. The band were awarded 10th place. There is plenty that we take from the weekend but mainly what a great and talented bunch of people we're lucky enough to have in our band. We're looking forward to a better result next year!
